More snow photos

Well.....the snow is continuing to melt. It was a month ago that we were hit with all that snow. Andre was hoping that it would all melt by this weekend but, there is still a few inches in front of our house.....and we have piles that are two feet high along our driveway. At least there is a whole lot less than when I took these photos.

And......this is the sight we saw the day before the snow was supposed to arrive. No bananas!! Most of the other shelves were cleared out as well. I have never seen stores emptied to bare shelves. Bread...milk...eggs....yes, I know those all get sold out when a big snow is coming but this time fruits, vegetables, meats, canned goods, you name it....all sold out! I am glad that I shopped before the snow "hysteria" hit!

Happy New Year!!

Andre and I went out for dinner at the Malaysian restaurant on Chinese New Year's Eve. To start our meal we had the raw fish salad but.....before we started our mixing....I took a picture. Andre is ready to dive in!! We mixed and mixed and lifted the salad nice and high. I think some people were amused at how much we mixed and tossed our salad...but we were having fun.

We then went back to the same restaurant the next day with the children to celebrate Chinese New Year together. We didn't have the salad with the children....but we enjoyed wonderful food all the same.

Storm of the Century!!! ....it actually may be.....

Well......that was a cold....wind...wet...did I mention cold...season. The first storm hit on Feb 3 and gave us a mere 6 inches. Nothing too concerning....but enough to cancel school. Then the real storm hit on Feb 5 and dropped about 30 inches of snow on us. Then....on Feb 10 we got another 12 - 15 inches.

Andre and I went to a hockey game the evening the snow started. When we left home...it was snowing with force...but we thought the roads would be clear since we would be driving home on the highway. Well...we were met with terrible road conditions. The highway was the worst part of our trip home. It took us about 3 times longer than it should to get home. I was never so happy to see our driveway!! There was too much snow to get the van up the driveway....but I didn't care. We were finally home!

Of course.....the boys can always find weapons...no matter where they look.

At one point they each had one of these icicles....but I reminded them that if they speared each other to death there was no way to get help. I don't think that would really stop them though. I think what stopped them was that the steak we were having for dinner was ready. Ah....steak after a day of shoveling is a happy thing.
